A sensible design. We
are skeptical, and think you should be, too, about ultrasonic
detectors that are loaded with features that increase complexity (learn
more about bells and whistles) and cost.
We have incorporated feedback from the field
over the years in order to keep the Son-Tector dependable
and easy to use. Every part of the design is there
for a reason. For example, years ago we made a pistol-shaped unit, one with
a meter and one without. Customers requested a model with a loudspeaker. We
combined all the necessary features into one easy-to-use design.
Quality construction. Our factory staff
have been with us for years and know the Son-Tector inside and out. Because
they build and repair the units, they
have made solid contributions to design improvement and durability.
Priced right. It
can be confusing trying to decide what to pay for an ultrasonic detector. All
we can tell you is that when we first opened our doors in 1963
we set our price 2/3’s lower than our major competitor. We thought they
charged too much and we were right.
We were able to make enough of a mark-up to be able to stay in business all
these years. “Enough” is
a relative term. Our staff chooses to live in small communities where the cost
of living is less.
Today, prices of ultrasonic detectors vary from the several
hundreds to many thousands. Competition keeps us from raising our price until
we simply cannot
continue without doing so.
Since we can’t lower the price, we asked ourselves
what we could do to remain competitive. The answer was easy. We ask our customers
to pay a fair
price in exchange for a product that they can count on to be dependable. If
there’s a problem we offer a LIFETIME
warranty (learn more). We know
how to build the Son-Tector so the risk to us is extremely low.
